Surrender to your strengths; perhaps not the first frame that comes into view when we think of the word surrender. Let me propose the polar opposite; weakness. Through conditioning we most often associate surrender with giving in, backing down, throwing the towel in. These energies are disempowering and can cause a block to honouring your highest well-being. Sometimes giving in, backing down and throwing the towel in is exactly what’s needed however, free from a place of negativity or weakness. What rotates at the centre is choice, mindset and attitude. Through conscious engagement with these elements a place of self empowerment can be reached. This is the ultimate surrender to oneself; embracing, accepting and letting go to let the Soulful Woman inside rise.
This year has been exemplary to consider the word ‘surrender’. How many moments have we had, alone and shared that require an element of surrender? Once I begin to count, I quickly see the numbers grow – yikes!
Staying in Peru for the whole year was not planned, I actually had a trip back to the UK booked; moving house 5 times in the Valley; witnessing the importance of a grounded practice and relationship with myself to navigate through this year’s challenges and times of joy. Then I am reminded of all the small, seemingly insignificant moments which required tremendous strength, resilience and gentle embrace. It’s funny how these can quickly disappear under the radar; I appreciate remembering the journey of surrender in all its facets, regardless of perceived importance, it is all encompassing and ultimately contributed.
What this year has shown me is the ‘moment of pause’ in a heightened, yet supportive way; those few seconds between something happening and a reaction. A brief flutter, where conscious choice arises. Will I fall into old patterns of emotional overwhelm, reactive and disempowerment? Or can I begin to make headway, and observe real shifts that the Soulful Self gently calls us to?
It’s a practice to cultivate and a lifelong journey, but well worth the dedication. I cannot think of a more aligned practice on the Soulful path of healing and transformation.
Opening the inner relationship with the Self presents an opportunity for the strengths we didn’t know we had, or those that have been lying dormant, to be nurtured and grow. There are many modalities and practices in which this can be achieved. I wholeheartedly support each and every one of us to find what resonates for them. Working with my inner child shows me an empowering way to surrender to what is, to what has happened in the past and to embrace a bright future based on trust, rather than worry or fear. Meditation, yoga supports me along the path as well, and most recently, attaining the Reiki Master, has allowed for a deeper layer of surrender to flourish, which I am most grateful for.
We are being shown our strengths daily; the question is, do we see it?
I invite you to spend a few moments reflecting on this year and what the surrender means and brings to you. What strengths have you observed in yourself that have grown and those that have arisen, including those still in incubation awaiting to rise?
Summertime here in Peru is almost upon us and with the warming sun and needed rains arriving, December is a time of expansion and embracing growth. I hold the notion of surrendering to my strengths close to my heart, with each opportunity that comes my way to allow for balanced, harmonious and soulful sailing. My very warmest wishes and blessings for your souls too.
